Hello, dear friends! Welcome to Volume 6, Issue 1 of Turtle Way, an online journal of literary and visual art contributed and inspired by and published in support of those with mental illness.
It is hard to believe it has been three years since Turtle Way’s last publication, but when I put out a call for submissions it was like we had never stopped. The love and support you have for both the arts and for mental health is obvious.
Since this is our spring edition, I was excited to see some beautiful floral images submitted by Samina Raza. For me, these images bring about a sense of growth and hope as do the written pieces entitled, “This I Leave” by Susan H., “You Are Not Alone At All” by Partha Chatterjee, and “Life is So Precious” by Samina Raza.
The other writings take a look at the more adventurous side of life as seen in Bryan William Myers’ “Manic,” Michael Lee Johnson’s “Alexandra David-Neel,” and Kerry Kelly’s “Lady Mary,” and go along nicely with our special interest section topic of ‘hypomania’, which you can learn more about in the ‘Did U Know’ section.
But wait! Before you dive in, let’s review a few housekeeping items:
- WARNING: Please read the “trigger” disclaimer here.
- COMMENTS: All comments will be moderated to protect the contributors, who have put forth their most sensitive and revealing works for us to read, view, and enjoy. As always, you may send your comments and questions either directly to the author via their contact information, or to me via the contact form here. Your comments may be included in future issues’ “Letters to the Editor” section unless you specify otherwise.
- SUBMISSIONS: If you would like your work to be considered for upcoming issues, please review our submission guidelines here. Without you, there is no we, and only we can get through life – together.
I hope you enjoy this issue. Your feedback is welcomed.
Love and peace,
