Spilling by Valentina Cano

One word you said
and perhaps even meant
was enough to tip a year
of the tight-rope walking off
this calendar.
I spilled like salt,
spreading so far
you could not pick me up
to toss over your shoulder,
a caveman’s charm
to guard off boredom.
